Arab Health and Medlab to facilitate business deals that contribute to the recovery of global health care.

Arab Health and Medlab Middle East, the leading trade shows for the health and laboratory industries in the Mena area, generated Dhs 767.7 million in new deals last month during the live personality of the show.

During the four-day presentation opened by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, the exhibitions welcomed 22,800 visitors from 172 countries who came in contact with 1,700 exhibitors . A total of 61 countries were represented by exhibitors, including 30 international pavilions.

Wouter Molman, Executive Vice President of Informa Markets, said, “Arab Health and Medlab Middle East were a resounding success this year, underscoring the importance, and perhaps more importantly, the need to return to hosting live and in-person events.”

“Our overall goal was to create a platform that would make it easier to do business by providing the ability to connect, network and ultimately support the global healthcare recovery.”

Deals concluded during the event included a collaboration between American Hospital Dubai and Etisalat Digital to improve the patient experience through the use of multiple digital technologies. The Department of Health and Prevention, EHSE, DHA and DoH have also signed a bulk purchase agreement for drugs and medical supplies.

Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital (AJCSH) announced a high profile agreement with Illumina Netherlands BV, the world’s leading provider of next-generation sequencing, to provide the group with technical expertise, reagents and analytical tools, and training.

Elsewhere on the exhibition space, Gulf Medical University signed a letter of intent with GEOTAR-Med, a leading company in Russia providing complex turnkey solutions for medical education to develop, manufacture and further develop exciting simulation devices for education in health professions.

A number of transactions were completed at Medlab Middle East, including G42 Healthcare, which announced a partnership with Seegene, a global biotechnology company specializing in molecular diagnostics, to offer fully equipped mobile diagnostic and testing laboratories across the Mena region. Other announcements included the new diagnostic solutions from Unilabs with Roche Diagnostics. Vincenzo Ventricelli, CEO, Philips Middle East, Turkey & Africa, said: “We were very pleased with the positive feedback we received during the fair. The customers were not only ready to come to the event, but they are also happy to get involved, discuss and make decisions in a personal environment. That means that business is done faster and better. “

As part of the online element of the fair, 19,699 visitors came from countries such as Chile, Congo, Mauritius, Zambia, Bolivia, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, a total of over 31 countries that were only represented online thanks to the virtual aspect of the exhibitions. A survey of online participants found that 47 percent of online visitors had never seen one of the two shows in the past.

“These results underscore the importance of our online event by allowing an even larger audience to attend. While the physical events remain a strong and impactful platform that has generated millions of dirhams in sales from the in-person shows, the online element has so far enabled over 46,300 unique connections from around the world, ”added Molman.

The events, which took place under the motto “United by Business, Driving the Industry Forward”, were supported by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the Dubai Healthcare City Authority, the Dubai Health Authority and the Government of Dubai.

As part of Informa Markets’ commitment to maintaining the highest levels of hygiene at all events by ensuring the safety of attendees and staff, the event was conducted using protocols implemented through the company’s Informa AllSecure Health and Safety Mandate . The expanded measures include 35 guidelines on all aspects of cleaning and hygiene, social distancing measures and the use of PPE, screening and tracking and tracing in collaboration with local authorities.

The 2022 edition of the show, which returns as a joint event for the health and laboratory industries, will take place from January 24-27 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

“For us as the organizer, the knowledge gained from holding a live event on site at the same time as the online edition was invaluable. The results exceeded our expectations. As with our theme for this year’s show, now is the time to move the industry forward and prepare for 2022, where we look forward to repeating this year’s achievements, ”concluded Molman.

As part of Informa Markets’ commitment to maintaining the highest level of hygiene at all events, Informa introduced AllSecure – a 35-point guide to ensuring the safety of attendees and employees.
