While there are a number of factors that contribute to job satisfaction, there may be nothing more important than compensation. A high salary is important to make employees feel valued at their company and give them the financial stability and flexibility to live comfortably.
With inflation rising, Americans are more interested than ever in increasing their income. While pay in any job depends on factors like experience, location, and the company itself, there are dozens of jobs where most workers make at least $100,000 a year.
To identify the jobs with six-figure salaries, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics report National employment and wage estimates for May 2021. Detailed occupations were ranked by their median annual income. Other professional fields were not considered. Supplementary data also came from the BLS.
Management jobs feature more frequently on the list of six-digit jobs than any other job field. Management requires years of experience in a field, along with the complex demands of leading a team, so workers in these fields tend to generate higher earnings. Healthcare, technology and engineering careers also make up a significant portion of the list.
The six-figure fields are highly specialized and typically require at least a bachelor’s degree, if not more. These in-demand areas often require expertise and training from a college program. Only three of the 65 jobs with median earnings of at least $100,000 typically don’t require at least a bachelor’s degree. These are the fastest growing jobs that don’t require a college degree.
Of the 65 six-digit jobs, only four are projected to have fewer workers in 2030 than they will be in 2020. For the vast majority of these jobs, the workforce is projected to grow at more than the 7.7% growth rate reported by the BLS projects for all occupations .
